About John
John Howell was born in 1950 and qualified as a UK lawyer (solicitor) in 1975. He has since worked mainly in the field of international legal and property transactions. In May 2012 John was appointed Editorial Director of OPP Media. As well as being the editorial director of OPP, John provides consultancy services to a strictly limited number of clients seeking advice and assistance in relation to their plans to develop or invest in international property or in connection with international property disputes. John has over 30 years' experience in dealing with international legal and property problems. He was, until 2009, the senior partner in The International Law Partnership LLP – a UK law firm specialising in international legal issues. He is widely recognised as a leading figure – and a leading legal adviser – in the field of international property.
He was a founder member of and, for several years, a board member of AIPP – the Association of International Property Professionals. He also writes regular columns in the specialist and professional International Property press and contributes frequently to articles in the general press, both in the UK and around the world. Outside the field of international law and property, his main interests are travel, languages, food and old cars.
