How big companies are harnessing the innovative spirit of startups

As the founder of Doorsteps, Michele Serro suddenly found herself in the position of operating a startup within a larger company, after Doorsteps was acquired by realtor.com operator Move Inc.

All of the players and regulations in real estate can make it hard to innovate. So the power inside any large company “is in starting to think like a startup, and test things and learn on a different scale,” Serro says. “That’s sort of the theme — how do you behave small, and think small, when you’re a large company.”
