  • Terra Holdings launched an Apple Watch/iPhone app (Android version coming soon) to provide New York City listing access.

  • One of the most innovative features of the Halstead App is the 3-D tours and video tours of properties.

Knowing up-to-the-minute shifts in real estate and having them in the palm of your hand is key to success in areas like New York City. And what’s better than the palm of your hand? How about your wrist!

Terra Holdings, the parent company of Brown Harris Stevens and Halstead Property, launched the first real estate apps exclusively for the Apple Watch and iPhone together to provide listing access in real time for the New York metro area, Hudson Valley, New Jersey, Connecticut and the Hamptons. An estimated 100,000 properties will be listed on each real estate company’s app.

“The Terra Holdings Apple Watch and iPhone apps feature fast and intuitive filtering tools to help our clients zero in on the perfect property more quickly,” said James G. Cahill, chief information and technology officer for Terra Holdings, in a statement. “The goal is to simplify the real estate search process by using Apple’s most personal device and their latest technology innovations.”

The Halstead App alerts buyers of new listings, open houses and price drops on homes that match the criteria they are looking for. Using a “Facebook-style” news feed, the latest properties stream instantly so users can browse easily, with floor plans, photos, maps and more.

Because most buyers are looking for real estate with another individual, the collaborative tool allows users to link profiles with one another and receive personalized recommendations from their broker. Users can also share and “favorite” properties, and communicate privately via the app.

Each user can fill a heart halfway to like a property, and if the other user fills the heart the rest of the way, the property is moved to the top. Taking the real estate agent out of the equation for the discussion part of the home search, this feature helps to streamline the process of finding the perfect home without wasting any time for the consumer or agent.

One of the most innovative features of the Halstead App is the 3-D tours and video tours of properties that users can view right on their iPhone or Apple Watch.

An Android version of the home search app is expected in the coming weeks.
