What’s your craziest social media-related story?
I get fake Yelp reviews all the time from people I have never heard about or met. I sometimes think it’s the competition posting fake reviews.
What actions do you take that have gotten the most results?
Being present online and having an amazing website to foster strong lead conversion.
Is this more about “social” or about business?
Both.
Which social channels do you work more?
Yelp, Facebook, Twitter.
How many friends, likes, etc., do you have?
I have 71 Yelp reviews (most in Silicon Valley), 435 Facebook likes, 1,150 Facebook friends, 2,130 Twitter followers and 500-plus LinkedIn connections.
Does that number matter to you?
Only the 71 Yelp reviews because it means that I’m doing something right.
Do you ever give it a break?
My social media ebbs and flows.

Does social help your business, and how?
Different channels help in different ways. Yelp brings credibility. Facebook helps to show who I am as a person beyond real estate.
What’s your goal for your favorite social channel?
To reach 100 Yelp reviews and have a party to celebrate!
What’s your strategy to achieve it?
Focus on providing amazing client experiences.
Is it worth it, why?
Definitely. Working by referral and building relationships is so much better than working transactionally.
How do you monitor the channels? Do you use software/apps to manage your account, and which ones?
I use Hootsuite here and there, but otherwise, it’s just time-blocked or prescheduled postings.
How many hours per day are you on social media? Do you check it daily? Multiple times per day?
An hour to an hour and a half every day, multiple times per day during downtime.
Do you ever think of retiring?
All the time. Retiring and teaching others what I know. I’m doing that now!
Do you consider yourself an influencer?
Being ranked as one of the top 200 Realtors in the nation by Real Trends and being a progressive thinker at my company, yes, I do think I have influence on many.
Are you social in real life?
Yes and no. Depends on my mood, but I do love people.
What did you do with your time before?
Good question. I don’t know.
How do you leverage your prominence/influence on social?
It helps create a strong online presence (that is searchable) so prospective clients will end up on my website, AlexWang.com, through multiple avenues.
Do you have someone helping you?
I have three assistants; however, social media posts I control. It’s more authentic.

Whom do you follow and why?
Inman of course! Moz – ultimate pros on SEO, Chris Smith, Curaytor – very forward-thinking, many thought leaders like Simon Sinek, Malcolm Gladwell … anything contrarian is cool. I’m not a cookie-cutter agent. :)
Where do you find the content that you put out?
From people that I’m connected with, from our company CEO Chris Trapani and from what’s trending on Twitter.
