Takeaways:

  • Chicago renters are going to pay the most to have an apartment near the football action with the average rent of $2,890.
  • Green Bay fans need to pay an average of only $740 to get a rental near the legendary Lambeau Field.
  • Fans of the Seahawks will have to pay $2,684 to hear the loudest stadium in the NFL.

The first game of the National Football League season kicks off Sept. 10, and fans all over the nation are gearing up for it.

The communities surrounding some of the most prominent stadiums will see an influx in visitors, of course, but what about those people looking to live close to the action?

From the city to the small town, raging football fans may need your help to find (and sometimes afford) the ideal apartment where they can don their team’s colors, shamelessly wave their flag high and prepare for pigskin Sundays where they can almost feel the rumblings of the stadium.

Here’s a glimpse into the rental markets surrounding some of the most popular NFL stadiums:

Sports Authority Field at Mile High, Denver Broncos

According to RentPath data, the average rent around the Broncos’ stadium is $1,952. Located in the Sun Valley neighborhood, the stadium is also a stone’s throw away from Jefferson Park and the city’s major highway system. The immediate surrounding area isn’t residential, but head right east to the popular LoDo neighborhood or west to Sloan’s Lake Park.

Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis Colts

Lucas Oil Stadium is smack dab in the middle of downtown Indianapolis. Ever since Super Bowl XLVI was hosted here, it’s even more of an exciting place to live. Plus, it’s inexpensive– the average apartment runs $902.

Soldier Field, Chicago Bears

Soldier Field is located in Museum Campus right on Lake Michigan, and renters will have to pay a pretty penny to live near here. As the most expensive of the football neighborhoods listed, an apartment in the South Loop near Soldier Field will run renters an average $2,890. This area is growing by the minute due to its close proximity to downtown, the lake and, of course, the Bears’ home field.

Heinz Field, Pittsburgh Steelers

Located in the North Shore neighborhood and near the Old Allegheny Rows Historic District, Heinz Field is in the North Side of Pittsburgh and near some of the city’s most iconic attractions. Andy Warhol Museum, PNC Park and Riverview Park are all notable amenities around this part of town. The average apartment runs $1,412 around the stadium.

Levi’s Stadium, San Francisco 49ers

Technically located in Santa Clara, more than 40 miles south of San Francisco, Levi’s Stadium is close to transportation and a 100-mile network of biking and walking paths. Levi’s Stadium is the farthest stadium from the team’s home city, but die-hard 49ers fans won’t find the area to be much less expensive. The average rental is $2,711.

M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore Ravens

Sports fans rejoice with not only the M&T Bank Stadium but also Orioles Park right around the corner. The stadium is just south of downtown, so the average $2,022 rent can be explained by the Inner Harbor, National Aquarium and easy transportation access.

CenturyLink Field, Seattle Seahawks

Just south of downtown, the Seahawks stadium is the loudest in the NFL, and renters will pay to hear the roar. The average rent around the stadium is $2,684. Although the area is still pretty industrial, modern apartments dot the area to accommodate the growing interest in the region.

Lambeau Field, Green Bay Packers

Renters looking in Green Bay are heading to the promise land. As the least expensive football town listed, Green Bay has an average rental price of $740. Lambeau Field may be the No. 1 attraction here, but renters can find the Fox River State Recreational Trail and Green Bay Botanical Garden sources of entertainment during the off season.
