Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate (BHGRE) Gary Greene in Houston recently took a break from open houses and writing listings to work on a few homes that needed a different type of help than that band of agents usually gives.

Recently, the brokerage grabbed their hammers and helped rehabilitate four homes in the Houston area with Rebuilding Together, a national organization that helps rehabilitate homes in low-income communities. The brokerage is an exclusive residential real estate brand partner in the Houston area to the nonprofit organization.

Rebuilding Together provides critical repairs, accessibility modifications and energy efficiency upgrades to those unable to maintain their homes.

Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Gary Greene first opened as Gary Greene Realty in 1963. Its 50-plus year history in Greater Houston marketplace makes it the longest standing real estate firm in the Houston area.

It now has more than 20 offices and 850 agents. As of end-of-month figures from their website from January 2016, they are the top brokerage for number of listings, listings sold, dollar volume of listings sold and total homes/dollar volume sold in Houston.

Rebuilding Together has affiliates across the country. Nearly 100,000 volunteers complete about 10,000 rebuild projects nationwide annually. In 2014, the organization was responsible for nearly $73 million in home improvements to more than 17,000 homeowners and residents across the country.

And, BHGRE will remain strongly committed to that ongoing effort, with the recent election of Sherry Chris as chair of the Rebuilding Together’s 14-member national board of directors. Chris is President and CEO of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate.

“Rebuilding Together helps preserve the American dream of homeownership for low-income homeowners in need of a safe and healthy home, and in the process ensures that communities and neighborhoods remain vibrant,” Chris said, in a statement.

“Over the coming years, Rebuilding Together will be focusing on expanding services, voice and reach to meet dramatically growing needs nationwide.”

Chris has more than 30 years of real estate experience in sales, marketing, new technologies and franchise management. She led the Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate brand launch in 2008. Under her leadership, it has become an international lifestyle real estate brand that offers a full range of services to brokers, affiliated sales associates and home buyers and sellers across the United States and Canada.

Rebuilding Together is a national nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of low-income homeowners by improving the safety and health of their homes and revitalizing their communities. The organization has more than 40 years of experience in advancing that cause.
