Real Trends 500: Top DC Metro Brokerage Firms

For 29 years, Real Trends has been providing comprehensive lists of who’s doing what in residential real estate. Whereas the numbers qualifying firms across the country to even be considered have changed, the bragging rights have not.

In 2015, firms needed to closed a minimum of 1,702 transactions to for the 2016 list consideration. These are the top firms from Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

No. 3: The Long and Foster Companies, Inc.

Total Volume in 2015: $29,104,165,420
There’s a reason Long and Foster was able to achieve such a high ranking on the RealTrends list, and it probably has something to do with the more than 200 offices and 11,000 agents representing the name in the mid-Atlantic region.

It was started in 1968 and remains the single largest privately-owned real estate company in America.

No. 35: Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty

Total Volume in 2015: $3,373,926,915
PenFed Realty is somewhat of the perfect storm for mega-firms: PenFed Credit Union and Berkshire Hathaway bring decades of financial expertise to the real estate world. With more than 50 offices throughout the nation and upwards of 1,700 agents, PenFed has a wide reach and successful track record.

No. 78: Washington Fine Properties, LLC

Total Volume in 2015: $2,240,034,074
Washington Fine Properties was founded in 1999 and is today led by Tom Anderson, Dana Landry and Marc Schappell. The brokerage works locally, nationally and internationally with clients, and is the exclusive local representative for brokerage networks such as Luxury Real Estate-Regents and Leading Real Estate Companies of the World.

No. 89: TTR Sotheby’s International Realty

Total Volume in 2015: $2,027,393,219
TTR Sotheby represented the highest selling residential real estate transaction in the history of Washington, D.C.: The Patterson mansion sold for $20 million in 2014.

With five offices and nearly 300 agents in the region, TTR Sotheby places among the top performing firms in the country.

No. 103: Keller Williams Capital Properties

Total Volume in 2015: $1,732,064,988
Founded in 2006, Keller Williams Capital Properties has four locations throughout the region, including locations in Dupont Circle and Capitol Hill. Mary Garner Devoe is the managing director.
