Low inventory, rising home prices, lack of wage growth and heavy competition make entry-level home buying difficult — something many of Chicago’s first-time homebuyers are finding out right now, according to MortgageHippo, a mortgage application and loan service based in Chicago.

Despite not sitting on an ocean, Chicago ranked sixth on a recent list ranking 25 greatest cities on water. The Windy City gained high marks for its vibrant music scene and jazz clubs, as well as its high concentration of professional sporting events.
