Podcast: Halloween prospecting — no tricks, just treats

Let’s face it, for most real estate agents, Halloween is the holiday that signifies the slow march to the end of the year — and usually the end of any real work. Pretty soon cars will be disappearing from brokers’ parking lots faster than you can say: “Trick or treat!”

But what if you had some fun, practical and proven techniques that promise no tricks and lots of future real estate treats?

On today’s show we have some easy, fun and festive ways to make connections with your past clients and centers of influence at a time when everything under the sun seems to be pulling their attention away from real estate and making decisions.

So, what do you do? Focus on fun, lighthearted contacts that make people smile!

The first thing you have to do is commit to doing something to connect with your past clients, neighbors and centers of influence. Next, decide if you want to go big, small or somewhere in between.

Ideas can range from catering to your top 25 clients to utilizing an off-site location, inviting in other vendors and putting a charitable twist on it.

Here’s a few ideas to get you started! Now, put aside your ego if your immediate thought is that it’s tacky; and if you’re a high-driver personality, resist the thought of how is this ever going to bring you any business.

The law of reciprocity rules here, so take these ideas and run — and watch them grow into traditions that your community will come to embrace and look forward to:

Small: Personally stop by your best 20 to 30 contacts with candy, cupcakes, pumpkins, pumpkin pies, etc.

Medium: Create 100 Halloween candy bags, and expand your list to include new build reps, title and mortgage providers, VIPs in your HOA and neighborhood movers and shakers!

It’s personal — so don’t just leave it on their door; make sure you actually hand it to them personally.

Large: Throw a pumpkin patch charity event. Buy pumpkins or pies wholesale, and choose an event location. The proceeds from the sales benefit the charity of your choice.

Work on getting people to show up by advertising on Facebook with BombBomb video emails or Happy Grasshopper, directional signs and local publications.

For more stories on how we did this (and more), listen to the podcast and then get ready to have some fun. Now is the time to make a contribution to your community. Remember what we said the other day. If you’re not doing it, someone else will.
