Twenty years ago, homebuyers were competing with people in their own community, their neighbors, to buy homes, but today, that looks dramatically different.
Buyers are now competing with iBuyers, as well as investors, who want to buy and rent out homes. Bain Capital’s Merritt Hummer says her top trend is iBuyers, but from a perspective of empowering the homebuyer.
For example, Bain Capital is a backer of Ribon, an alternative financing solution for buyers that guarantees buyers a cash bid, even if they need a mortgage, speeding up the transaction process.
