Football star Tom Brady and supermodel Gisele Bündchen may be planning a move — and, in anticipation, listed their Brookline, Massachusetts home for $39.5 million.
Just days after extending his New England Patriots contract for another two years, the six-time Super Bowl winner put his family’s 9,716-square-foot house on the market. The property was built in 2013 and sits on 5 acres of land in the swanky Boston suburb. Built by star architect Richard Landry, it comes with five bedrooms, a three-car garage, a gym, a spa, a garden, a barn-style guesthouse and a large circular driveway that can hold up to 20 cars.
“This custom-built five-bedroom family home by renowned architect Richard Landry, AIA, of Landry Design Group, built in 2015 in collaboration with interior designer Joan Behnke & Associates, is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece,” reads listing.
While the 42-year-old star player’s contract has been extended until 2021, players Brady’s age often take things year by year in advance of retirement. Brady and Bündchen have two kids, son Benjamin Rein and daughter Vivian Lake, as well as Brady’s son from a previous relationship, John Edward Thomas Moynahan. Last weekend, the couple was spotted house-hunting in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Brady and Bündchen have, over the years, moved around and sold off properties to follow the stars’ careers. They sold their custom-built mansion in L.A. to rap impresario Dr. Dre for $40 million in 2014 and sold the Boston condo that Brady used as his home base until 2012. At the moment, the power couple also owns a five-bedroom loft in Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood.
The early listing, held by Beth Dickerson of Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty, may also be explained by the fact that ultra-luxurious celebrity homes are not always an easy sell. Buyers who can afford the hefty price tag often want something custom to them.
