WATCH: What have we learned in the decade since the crash?

It’s been 10 years since the market bottomed out after the financial crisis. What did we learn?

Joe Rand, managing partner and general counsel of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, argues that over the past decade, large real estate companies lost sight of the consumer experience of the real estate transaction. He made the remarks this July onstage at Inman Connect Las Vegas 2019.

Instead, the large companies focused too much on real estate agents and on boosting their numbers and sales. As a result, the slow, relatively cumbersome real estate transactional experience hasn’t improved much for the consumer over the past decade, providing industry disruptors an opportunity.

Watch Rand outline some of the fundamental challenges currently facing large real estate companies and their cadres of independent contractor agents and his ideas for addressing them.

Rand is the author of How To Be A Great Real Estate Agent and Disruptors, Discounters, and Doubters.
