Location-based data and information provider Maponics LLC has added subdivision boundaries to its offerings, using a blend of geographic information system (GIS) data and public records to represent the perimeters around 150,000 housing subdivisions across 130 counties in 17 states.
The subdivision dataset, which launched last month, is expected to grow to include more than 1 million subdivisions.
Subdivision boundaries have previously been available only through local governments or as attributes within property listings, neither of which can be employed for systematic filtering, display, analysis and online mapping, Maponics said.
Maponics also defines more than 153,000 neighborhood boundaries in upward of 2,200 cities in 66 countries around the world, including coverage in all 50 U.S. states and Washington, D.C.
The company’s clients include Realtor.com, Trulia, ZipRealty, Fannie Mae, Redfin, and Realtors Property Resource LLC, which rely on Maponics data to improve search capabilities, perform trend analysis, and deliver advanced mapping applications.
Neighborhood boundaries and subdivision boundaries are each available to license in GIS data formats. Neighborhood boundaries are also available through the Maponics Spatial API for mashups or other online use.
