Realtor.com, the official real estate search website of the National Association of Realtors, experienced an hourlong unexpected outage on Wednesday afternoon.
The site, back up now, went down for about an hour from 5-6 p.m. Pacific time on Wednesday. Visitors to the site got a grayed-out screen and a message reading: “Welcome! Our site is temporarily unavailable. We expect to be back up and running again soon and apologize for any inconveniences. Please check back in a few minutes.”
Other sites run by realtor.com operator Move Inc. appeared to be up and running, including Move.com, newhomes.move.com and topproducer.com.
“The page (referenced in this article) is our standard maintenance page that we put up during routine maintenance and certain software updates,” said Alison Schwartz, vice president of communications for Move. “I am getting in touch with our technology team and will look into this further.”
Schwartz says, “I can confirm that this not a security breach.”
Last week, transaction management platform dotloop had an unexpected daylong outage that interrupted its users’ access to the platform. Dotloop CEO Austin Allison said the company had to take the system offline to address a performance issue, though some suspected that there might have been a security breach or a weakness detected in the system that could have led to a breach.
