Zillow is launching new iPhone, iPad and iPod touch apps today redesigned to take advantage of Apple’s new iOS 7 mobile operating system.

Zillow’s new Apple apps have incorporated the new iOS 7 aesthetic throughout with new home icons and font choices. They also surface photos and basic home info more readily — home shoppers, for example, can now swipe through thumbnail-sized photos of homes that slide up from the bottom of the screen without leaving map view.

The iPad app now features a redesigned, full-screen magazine-like home listing page that allows shoppers to swipe through a full gallery of large photos.

“IOS 7 empowers a photo-centric consumer experience with magazine-style listing pages, giving home shoppers a faster, more visual and ultimately more fun way to shop for homes,” said Jeremy Wacksman, vice president of marketing and mobile at Zillow, in a statement.

Apple featured the Zillow app during its unveiling of the new operating system on Sept. 10 at its headquarters in Cupertino, Calif.

Representatives for Trulia and realtor.com, Zillow’s two biggest mobile rivals, say their Apple apps are compatible with iOS 7 and have plans to release apps tailored specifically to the new operating system soon, but are not doing so today.

“Trulia has been optimizing its apps for iOS 7 over the last several months and has already updated some of the logos and iconography,” Steven Yarger, Trulia’s director of mobile, told Inman News. “The company will continue to roll out more improvements going forward as we watch users react to the platform.”

“Our apps are compatible with iOS7, and we have plans to roll out iOS7-specific features soon but not immediately,” a realtor.com spokeswoman told Inman News.

Zillow says that more than 60 percent of visits to its site now come from a mobile device.
