Two Ohio multiple listing services that share a listing database have signed a five-year agreement to license the Matrix MLS platform from real estate information and technology provider CoreLogic.

As of March 2014, Matrix will power the Northeast Ohio Real Estate Exchange (NEOHREX), a database maintained by Akron area-based Centralized Real Estate Information Service (CRIS) and Cleveland area-based Northern Ohio Regional Multiple Listing Service (NORMLS), which collectively represent more than 9,000 members and cover 22 counties. The current system is powered by CoreLogic competitor Rapattoni.

“The decision to contract with CoreLogic for its Matrix platform was the result of extensive research, investigation and actual hands-on testing by our MLS vendor task force,” said John Kurlich, CEO of CRIS, in a statement.

“Ultimately, the group decided that Matrix offers not only a state-of-the-art system with the speed, flexibility and mobility required in today’s real estate market, but also the ability to adapt to — and take advantage of — technological advances yet to come.”

In a statement, Carl DeMusz, president and CEO of NORMLS, praised Matrix’s “standards-based” HTML design, which he said gave members the ability to access their MLS directly using a device of their choice, including the iPhone, iPad, and Android smartphones and tablets.

“As technology rapidly changes, more and more MLS organizations are looking for an enterprise platform they can count on to work no matter what computing device or operating system their members decide to use tomorrow,” said Ben Graboske, senior vice president of real estate and financial services for CoreLogic, in a statement.

Earlier this year, CoreLogic’s Matrix platform was in the running to provide MLS services to San Diego-based Sandicor Inc., but lost out to Lender Processing Services’ Paragon 5 platform.
