NEW YORK — Urban Compass co-founder and CEO Robert Reffkin talks about how the startup, which raised $33 million within months of launching, is building on experience gained as a New York City rental search site to expand into home sales. While Urban Compass originally paid agents salaries and bonuses based on customer satisfaction, it’s moving to a more traditional commissions-based approach that Reffkin says still allows the company to maintain its original value proposition to consumers: “having the best agent and the best technology to work with.”
