Continuing an aggressive push into luxury markets outside of its New York City base, Douglas Elliman Real Estate has skied into the Aspen, Colorado, market by snapping up Joshua & Co., a brokerage with four offices and 40 agents in the resort area.
Douglas Elliman claims to be the largest brokerage in the New York City metropolitan area, with more than 75 offices and 5,000 agents in New York City, Long Island, the Hamptons, and Westchester and Putnam counties.
Earlier this year, Elliman touched down in Beverly Hills, California, and Greenwich, Connecticut, and stretched out its footprint in South Florida.
In a bid to court international buyers, the brokerage also began jointly marketing U.S. luxury listings to wealthy buyers around the world under a “global brand alliance” with Knight Frank Residential, which Douglas Elliman characterized as the largest independent brokerage in the United Kingdom.
The goal seems to be to cover the whole network of housing markets that the world’s silver-spooners flock to.
Joshua Saslove, founder and president of Joshua & Co., said in a statement that through its ties to Douglas Elliman, Aspen is “now connected with all the major luxury real estate markets across the globe.”
The new Douglas Elliman Real Estate | Joshua & Co. brokerage in Aspen “mutually reinforces the firm’s commitment to providing clients with access to fine homes in the most sought-after global markets,” the company said in a statement.
Howard M. Lorber, chairman of Douglas Elliman, said that “cohesive representation in markets that our clients want to be in allows us to better serve our customers and increase business potential for our agents.”
