News Corp. Executive Chairman Rupert Murdoch, whose acquisition of Move Inc. and its portal, realtor.com, rocked the real estate community in November, will deliver the keynote address at Real Estate Connect New York City on Thursday, Jan. 29, at the Marriott Marquis.

News Corp. is the largest news and information services provider in the English-speaking world, comprising the leading newspapers in the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom, integrated marketing services, digital real estate services, book publishing, digital education, and sports programming and pay-TV distribution in Australia. In the real estate category, News Corp. currently holds an 80 percent stake in realtor.com, Australia’s realestate.com.au, iProperty in Southeast Asia and PropTiger.com in India.

“No one better than Rupert Murdoch embodies the spirit of Real Estate Connect,” said Inman Publisher Brad Inman. “A super-savvy digital innovator and media icon, Mr. Murdoch has so many valuable lessons and insights for our global Connect audience.”

Since 1954, Murdoch has overseen the expansion and development of News Corp. into the most international of media businesses.

In the 1980s, News Corp. purchased The Times and Sunday Times and HarperCollins Publishers, one of the world’s largest and most digitally advanced English language book publishers. In 2007, News Corp. acquired Dow Jones & Company, including The Wall Street Journal.

News Corp. purchased Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp. in 1985. The following year, the company created the Fox Television Stations group, which comprises 28 stations across the United States and was the foundation for the launch of FOX Broadcasting Company and FOX Sports. In October 1996, News Corp. launched the FOX News Channel, a leading 24-hour news service. In Australia, News Corp. also owns a majority interest in digital real estate company REA Group.
