Our annual “The Chart” project — which puts the real estate techscape in a visual format — showed a few big shifts in real estate tech from 2014. Some highlights:
- A move toward maturity. A few companies went from seed to Series A, such as RealScout, Sindeo, AgentAce and HomeLight. Companies are getting bigger and going deeper. A few did large financings and Series B, like Placester, Matterport, BoomTown, Compass, SmartZip, LendingHome, Porch, Thumbtack and Pro.com.
- There was much more action around consumer-facing technology for the lending process. We’ve added an Online Mortgage Platforms box.
- Homeowner tools and service marketplaces heated up big. Amazon’s getting into this space to join well-funded competitors such as Thumbtack, Porch and Pro.com.
- The agent website business is heating up, too. Placester and WebsiteBox are duking it out.
