Family-owned rental services giant Long & Foster Property Management will partner in January with Marine Property Management, a full-service property management firm in Stafford, Va.

Long & Foster is now one of the largest single-family property management and rental service companies in the country, and this new arrangement will expand its reach in Northern Virginia.

In 2005, Retired Marine Corps Lt. Col. Mark Westerbeck and his wife, Margie, also a retired Marine lieutenant colonel, founded Marine Property Management. Their objective, then and now, is to support military families.

The business took off, and now offers comprehensive property management and real estate services to former, active and reserve military members, as well as civilians. Their clients are mainly from the Stafford, Fredericksburg and Woodbridge areas of Virginia.

The veterans will both become part of the Long & Foster family. Mark Westerbeck will serve as the Stafford office’s senior property manager in his new role with Long & Foster.

“Our team at Marine Property Management is excited at the service and growth opportunities for our joint operations,” said Mark Westerbeck, in a statement. “Long & Foster Property Management not only offers extensive online support for tenants and owners, but also brings the backing of the largest family-owned real estate firm in the United States.”

Long & Foster’s Property Management and Rental Services division, formed in 1968, offers a full suite of services to property owners. They handle the details of marketing, tenant screening, maintenance oversight and accounting for property owners. In 2014, their team managed more than 6,700 properties, including single family, townhome and condominium rental units, for investors and owners throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions.

Long & Foster operates divisions in the areas of residential property management, resort rentals, rental services and corporate real estate services.

“The Long & Foster Property Management team is dedicated to helping property owners maximize their return on investments–a commitment that has propelled us to become one of the largest single-family property management and rental service divisions in the country,” said Joe Amatangelo, president of Long & Foster Property Management, in a statement. “Mark and the team at Marine Property Management are similarly passionate about property ownership and management, and they will be an excellent addition to our company.”

The two companies will operate out of the new Long & Foster location at 630 Garrisonville Rd. in Stafford.
