Combine Houston’s growing inventory of existing single-family homes with its volume of expected 2016 home starts and you have an environment where homebuilders must make their product stand out. With three significant for-sale communities set to break ground in 2016, Surge Homes has announced the creation of a more comprehensive quality assurance program for its new homes within the city’s Inner Loop. The standout aspect of this program is a third-party, insurance-backed 10-year warranty from 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty, considered the nation’s largest warranty program.

  • Warranty covers workmanship, systems and structural.
  • This warranty likely appeals most to luxury homebuilders and buyers.
  • Warranty could be a selling point for owners further down the road.

In a release, the builder claims the program is “unmatched by any other Houston Inner Loop builder.”

Surge claims the warranty helps homeowners get the most value from their home when they sell, as it is transferable to the buyer.

The coverage includes a one-year workmanship warranty, a two-year systems warranty and a 10-year structural warranty. The latter includes 10-year coverage of roof framing, load bearing walls, beams, columns, foundation and floor framing.

Surge adopts this third-party coverage just as it announces the commencement of three new Inner Loop development sites, located in Upper Kirby, the Museum District and Midtown. Vertical construction of these sites will occur in early 2016. The majority of the homes will start at $420,000 and up.
