As can be expected, New York City dominated the rankings for the top market for many types of jobs.

But, there’s good news for digital marketing and creative types in DC. Throughout the six categories of placements that the company makes, DC residents – or those who hope to work there – can find a variety of opportunities. More often than not, DC landed in the top 10 for most of the jobs ranked.

The categories of positions include:

  • Creative
  • Interactive
  • Digital Marketing
  • Development
  • Mobile
  • User Experience (UX)

And, job-seekers can rejoice: there is a salary guide, too. Each type of job is ranked for high, average and low salaries for each market and role.

For Drupal or WordPress developers in DC, Onward Search says that you’d have a great chance of landing well-paying work in DC. Both of those careers rank second in the survey. And, if you’re proficient in Drupal, you can expect to make somewhere between $66,700 and more than $111,000 annually. WordPress experts can expect slightly less, topping out at a little over $93,400.

The lowest ranking DC received in a job category was in opportunities for pay-per-click specialists. If that digital marketing skill makes your heart sing, you won’t do too badly in DC– the city ranked 13th for that type of job. The range for that position was from a low of a little under $59,000 to a high of just over $88,000 in annual income.

DC has plenty to offer from a quality of life perspective, with great cultural institutions to help whet the creative appetite, and first-class universities to hone skill. And, it’s all tied together with strong transportation and walkable neighborhoods.
