Does it seem like you’re working with more homebuyers who are living with extended family members? Living with or near elderly family members is an increasing concern for buyers, but compromising on space and privacy is no easy matter for most.
The Jacobs Companies recently revealed its solution to this problem: two duplex homes in the center of the city in Highland Park. With an ideal location near the town’s downtown, schools and hospital, the duplex homes offer a flexible option for buyers looking to live close to their family members while still having a home of their own.
This is the first time The Jacobs Companies has taken a stab at this specific type of product, but a recent successful broker open house suggests it will be well-received.

The property was purchased about a year ago and has been torn down and rebuilt into townhomes. Although it’s still under construction, homes at 2100 St. Johns was listed about six months ago in the low $700,000s for each. The homes will be completely finished with modern details prior to selling.
The homes offer a flexible floor plan with multiple master suites, a basement and convertible living spaces that can be used for various purposes.
Another big selling point to the homes is the location.
Keith Jacobs, CEO of The Jacobs Companies, said the homes’ location in Highland Park has something to offer every member of the family. The location is also prime for a no-car lifestyle.
The Jacobs Companies has a few other projects currently underway in Deerfield and Northbrook in addition to another Highland Park community. Taylor Junction, Heritage and Gateway all have the same no-car lifestyle feature that many homebuyers are seeking.
