One way is to become the absolute authority on all things moving. How? By arming yourself with plenty of clever, outside-the-box (no pun intended) moving hacks.

Before you move
There are several pre-move hacks your clients can incorporate to ensure a smoother moving day. For example, can your clients access their new home before their actual move? If so, advise that they take a few hours one day to swing by and clean the place (especially the bathrooms and kitchen).
Another oft-forgotten tip — remind your clients to forward their mail. They’ll want to file their change-of-address form with the USPS at least two weeks in advance of the move (hint: this is something they can do quickly, easily and for free through Updater).

Keep your wallet happy
Who doesn’t love a fat and happy wallet? Help your clients save money on the move by tipping them off on the best places to source free moving boxes! Their local grocery store, fast-food restaurants or even liquor stores — which have the best boxes because they have handles and are already built to hold heavy items — are all great places to score free boxes.

If your clients are hiring a professional moving company, advise them to avoid “peak moving times.” Moving at the beginning or end of the month is more costly than moving at any other time of the month. Weekends, too, are more expensive than a weekday move. Encourage your clients to take a day off of work if they can.
Breaking and leaking and tangling, oh my!
Lots of little things can get tangled, broken or just plain messed up during a move if they’re not properly packed. When it comes to electronics, use paper towel tubes to keep wires in check. Are you worried about jewelry getting jumbled? Use empty egg cartons to keep it all organized.

Bizarre bonus hack
Share this tip with any of your accident-prone clients out there. If your clients drop anything breakable while unpacking and don’t have a broom on hand, they can use a slice of bread to pick up shards of glass or bits of ceramic. It sounds crazy, we know, but it works — we tested it out!
