• Patrick Ryan has been promoted to senior vice president of Related Realty, Related Midwest's residential brokerage division.
  • Pam Krieter, CEO of Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe), will retire in December.
  • Margery Shinners, currently deputy CEO and COO of MORe, will step in as CEO on January 1, 2017.

Two big changes are occurring in the Chicago real estate industry, with one being immediate and the other on the horizon. Patrick Ryan of Related Realty has stepped into a new position as senior vice president, and Pam Krieter is retiring from her position as CEO of Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe).

Patrick Ryan steps into SVP role

After just two years into his job at Related Realty in Chicago, Patrick Ryan has been appointed to senior vice president. The promotion, as president Curt Bailey puts it, came from seeing Ryan “as a natural leader.”

Ryan joined Related Realty, the residential brokerage division of Related Midwest, in 2014 after more than ten years at @properties.

“Im actually really excited just knowing the size and complexity of our overall organization, and to be a part of that and what we’re driving to do as a brokerage in Chicago,” Ryan said.

One of the challenges Ryan mentioned he was excited about confronting in his new role as senior vice president was the complexities of the entire real estate market and how it’s changing in the face of the digital era.

“As far as data, there is so much data that we are moving into an age with more broker consultants and advisors,” he said. “You need a pro to steer you through and understand that data.”

Ryan stressed the point of how continued education, support and appreciation for Related Realty’s brokers and agents will help continue the firm’s dedication to Chicago’s buyers and sellers.

“I am confident his extensive sales experience and vast connections in the industry will be a tremendous asset as we strategically grow our business while maintaining the outstanding service that has made Related Realty Chicago’s premier boutique residential brokerage,” Bailey said in a press release announcing Ryan’s promotion.

Ryan earned the Top Producer Award from the Chicago Association of Realtors every year since 2006. His career sales have totaled in the hundreds of millions, and he’s also earned the Outstanding Achievement Award by the Institute of Luxury Home Marketing.

Pam Krieter to step down from MORe in December

Pam Krieter

Pam Krieter is retiring from MORe in December.

Pam Krieter has been in real estate for 42 years but has decided to retire in December. Krieter has been with MORe since 1995, when only 3,600 members were part of the organization. MORe now has over 16,000 members and is the largest Realtor organization in Illinois and the fourth largest in the country.

“I’ve been in this business a long time,” she said. “I grew up in this business, myself, and I think it was just the right time.”

Krieter and her husband, Jim, who is already retired, are planning on traveling, as well as spending time with their grandchildren.

She has overseen several mergers with other Realtor associations and praised the different staffs for being able to come together and work over the years. But as for whether or not she plans on letting the landing gear down from her 42-year real estate flight early, she says the joy of real estate is still not lost on her.

“We just had our strategic planning meeting last week, and someone asked me after the meeting, ‘Why are you so excited? You won’t be here for all the changes.’ I said ‘When you put top notch Realtors in a room, and they talk about the future and what they see and what they need, how can you not get excited about that?!'” she said.

Margery Shinners, whom Krieter hired as a technology director and currently serves as COO of MORe, will be taking over the role of CEO on January 1, 2017.
