There are legendary sports teams with multiple all-stars that will go down in history as “super teams.” The Compass San Francisco office hopes that it’s building one of those right now.

  • So far Compass has recruited at least 32 agents to its San Francisco office.
  • New additions include Malin Giddings and her team from Coldwell Banker and Neal Ward, the no. 1 agent from McGuire Real Estate.
  • Collectively, the team has already sold over $1 billion this year.

There are legendary sports teams with multiple all-stars that will go down in history as “super teams.” Just like the Golden State Warriors, The Compass San Francisco office hopes that it’s building one of those right now.

And just as Kevin Durant joined Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green for a squad of A-list talent, top agents are making similarly impactful declarations as the high-tech brokerage Compass introduces itself the San Francisco landscape.

“We are thrilled to welcome some of the most experienced and collaborative agents in the San Francisco market, and are very proud of our growth,” said Robert Reffkin, Compass’ founder and CEO, via email. “The Compass difference lies in our technology, support, culture, and in-house marketing & advertising agency, and it’s exciting to see that our company continues to resonate with agents in the Bay Area and across the country.”

“Why not get the best of the best agents that are so well-liked and respected in the community? It’s not about how much money they make — it’s about the person,” said Monica Pauli, Coldwell Banker’s no. 1 agent in San Francisco, who recently joined Compass.

“That’s what Compass is: It’s about the agent, not about the brokerage.”

So far, Compass has added a total of 32 agents to its new San Francisco operation.

The Compass team is a super-group of agents

As Teke Wiggin recently reported, the TeedHaze team has moved under the Compass umbrella.

Touting nine agents on its website, though, it looks as though not everyone on the team made the transition. As it stands, Rick Teed and Butch Haze are listed on Compass’ website, as is Tyler Stewart, Camilla Moshayedi, Katie Worthing, Lauren Sumnicht and Rick Kaluza.

According to a Compass press release, the TeedHaze team was the no. 1 team for Sotheby’s International Realty.

Malin Giddings has also brought her talents and team from Coldwell Banker to Compass. Giddings had the no. 1 U.S. agent team at Coldwell Banker.

Other new additions include Neal Ward, the no. 1 agent from McGuire Real Estate. Ward is also listed as the no. 19 agent in the country. Ryan Richard has also left McGuire to join Compass in San Francisco. Ward could not be reached for comment.

Missi Wynant Smit has left her position at Hill & Co., where she was the no. 1 agent, to join Compass. Smit could not be reached for comment.

“Real estate is changing, and we’ve got to be part of that change,” Pauli said.

Pauli closed the first sale for Compass. It was a one-bedroom unit in South Beach and sold for $949,000. She said she took a picture of her check because she was so proud.

Other agents now with Compass include Victoria Lynn Coll, Marin Myers, Richard Avery, Susan Kim, Amanda Jones, Brad Smith, Matthew Grubisich, Sean Weinstock, Barbara Troast, Regina Gaspari, Amy Goodman, Bob Gee, Emily Hinsch, Lisa Norman, Craig Epstein, Lamisse Droubi, Emily Kitchen, David Pennebaker, Jennifer Hoh, and Emily Dunn.

In any case, Compass is wasting no time in making its mark on the Bay Area, with a team already responsible for over $1 billion in transactions this year.
