- Tuscaloosa Realtor Tyler Bigbie is behind the impeccably timed billboard featuring Les Miles, who was fired from his head coach position at LSU.
If Friday Night Lights has taught us anything, it’s that football is important.
So important in some parts of the country that when Louisiana State University decided to fire its head football coach, Les Miles, one real estate agent in Alabama took quick advantage of the move.
After Sunday’s announcement that Miles was out after 12 seasons as LSU’s coach, it didn’t take Tuscaloosa agent Tyler Bigbie very long at all to use the firing as inspiration for some creative marketing, which was captured for posterity via Twitter (where else?).
[Tweet “.@pritchettmoore agent used Les Miles for creative billboard advertising.”]
Unlimited Tide, a Twitter account dedicated to the University of Alabama football team, first tweeted the picture on Sept. 27, with the caption: “This is savage. Dagger to the heart from Pritchett and Moore.”
The tweet, which garnered 63 retweets and 65 likes, quickly made its way onto CBS Sports’ website for a story about what reporter Chip Patterson called “cold-blooded advertising.”
“Somehow, LSU might have more control over its logo than Les does over his likeness on this billboard,” Patterson wrote.
According to Bigbie’s profile on Pritchett-Moore Real Estate’s site, he earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations and advertising from the University of Alabama and worked for Charter Media for some time after college, a national advertising company.
And his buyers and sellers get the benefit: These days, he stays busy using his marketing skills to help clients grow their businesses (or buy or sell a home).
Last year, he was named the Tuscaloosa Association of Realtors’ Rookie of the Year, and he serves on TAR’s public relations and social committees as well.
There’s no word on where Miles is going next — but Bigbie’s billboard may be just the nudge he needs to roll right in to a new gig with Alabama Crimson Tide.
