The Fourth of July, with its fireworks, cookouts and red, white and blue everything, is almost here. It’s the perfect time to enjoy the summer weather, spend time with family and friends and show your patriotism.

As a real estate agent, you may want to share some of that USA pride with your clients — holidays like Independence Day are ideal times to connect with your clientele and your community. There are plenty of ways to do so, whether you want to make a subtle statement or throw a massive celebration.

Just make sure everyone feels included, and be sure not to get too promotional with your Fourth of July festivities, as the focus should be on the community and the holiday. Then go out, have and fun and show your patriotism!

1. Put up Fourth of July decor

Add some patriotic décor to your office, home and the properties you’re managing or selling. Even just some small additions can go a long way.

Put flags in the front yard, display an Independence Day-themed poster or banner or hang up some red, white and blue bunting in the weeks leading up to the holiday. That way everyone who visits you or even drives by can get a glimpse of your patriotism.

2. Update your online presence

You can also use your online presence to celebrate the Fourth. Make some simple Fourth of July posts wishing everyone a happy and safe holiday, and share them across all of the social platforms you use.

If possible, post something a little different on each one so that people don’t get tired of your post if they follow you on multiple sites. Posts with pictures tend to do exceptionally well.

You can also change your website colors to red, white and blue or add a USA-themed photo to the top of your homepage.

3. Send out emails or direct mail

Perhaps a more personal way to connect with your clients, both past and present, over the holiday is to send them either emails or direct mail on or around the Fourth.

This message doesn’t have to be anything elaborate. You can just type out a short note wishing everyone a happy holiday. To make your email or letter even more festive, you can add a patriotic header.

This might also help your message stand out. You can find templates online for a festive-looking letter.

4. Wear your colors on your sleeve (or wherever)

Wearing patriotic jewelry or clothing can show people you meet with in person that you’re excited for the Fourth and want to show off your patriotism. The only tricky part for agents: also looking professional.

While you might not be able to show up to meetings wearing a giant flag T-shirt and hat, you can show your patriotism using more subtle methods.

Fourth-themed pins, watch bands and even smartphone wallpapers can be just the subtle touch you need to celebrate Independence Day without looking unprofessional.

5. Volunteer or sponsor an event

If you don’t want to get a little more involved in the holiday, consider volunteering at or sponsoring an event. Tons of activities take place around the country for the holiday including community parties, fireworks shows and charity events, giving you plenty of chances to get involved.

Volunteering at an event will give you an opportunity to meet new people and respark old relationships.

Sponsoring an event will provide your brand with improved visibility and improve your rapport with the community.

6. Host a celebration or open house

If you want to put a little more time in, consider hosting a client party around the time of the holiday. You can make it into a big celebration, complete with food and fireworks, or a casual event at which clients stop by your office for a bite to eat and a brief chat. Either way, it will show your clients that you appreciate them.

The weeks surrounding the Fourth of July can also be a great time to host an open house for a property you’re selling. You can make the open house a little more exciting by adding a barbecue and patriotic decorations.

You might not want to host on the actual holiday, though, because people will most likely want to celebrate with family and friends instead.

Potential buyers will more easily be able to see themselves living at a property if they get to celebrate Fourth of July there, and it’ll be a perfect opportunity to get to know current and potential clients better.
