Cole Hamels was one of Major League Baseball’s pre-eminent hurlers for a time, a World Series MVP and a consistent presence for the Philadelphia Phillies for nine seasons.

Now a veteran starter on the Chicago Cubs after an early season 2018 trade from the Texas Rangers, Hamels continues to confuse batters with his changeup.

On top of his accomplishments from the mound, Hamels recently cemented career all-star status to the children of Camp Barnabas, a Christian-centered facility for kids with special needs.

This month, Hamels and his wife donated their $9.75 million Missouri mansion and the 100 acres its rests upon to the camp for use in its expansion plans to push its message and services beyond its seasonal camp.

The Branson estate holds 32,000 square feet, 10 bedrooms and 13 bathrooms on Table Rock Lake. It is the largest (physical and financial) gift bestowed upon the non-profit camp, which also serves parents and families of the children who attend its camps.

The home, which has 1,700 feet of shoreline, was gifted formally through the Hamels Foundation, which is dedicated to “providing support for quality education in the United States and to establish a school in Malawi, Africa,” according to its website.

The home went on the market in August 2018, according to NBCDFW Channel 5. There are a total of four “living areas,” two kitchens, a wine cellar and an elevator.

A few of its rooms require finishing; however, that should allow Camp Barnabas to design them according to needs.

While Hamels has played in Philadelphia, Dallas and Chicago, his wife hails from the Ozarks, which led to the couple building the home in 2012.
