Pulse is a recurring column where we ask for readers’ takes on varying topics in a weekly survey and report back with our findings.
A few weeks ago, we asked you to look back at your achievements in 2021 and tell us your biggest wins. And last week, we did the opposite by kicking off a conversation about failure. Because as important as it is to recognize the good things, it’s just as valuable to learn from the letdowns — even if that failure still really stings.
That’s why we asked you to divulge your biggest fails of this past year and introspect about where things went wrong. What did you learn? How did you pick yourself back up, and what lessons are you taking with you into 2022? Here’s what you had to say.
- I moved into a new market and thought it was the same as the next city over. I judged very wrong and have wasted plenty of time trying to make it fit into my preconceived notion.
- Failed in business but not in life: not handling my business to care for family members. Helped them but shot myself in both feet financially.
