Looking to get inspired for your social media strategy? Do you feel like you are in a content rut?  I get some of my biggest inspiration for great content from looking outside of the real estate industry.

Here are four companies outside of doing an exceptional job with their Facebook content:

Gretchen Rubin

Gretchen is an author but one of the things I love most about Gretchen’s social content are the videos she creates. She creates them in her home office and they are generally under three minutes. But what I love most – is that there is always a valuable take away from her videos and she always comes across as genuine and authentic.

Tip: What if you created quick 2-3 minute videos – each with one simple takeaway for working with buyers or sellers? Don’t like to be on camera? How about filming a screencast video with Screenr or Camtasia?

The New Yorker

The New Yorker Facebook page has a great variety of content. Sure they are a media outlet, but they are great at being creative with their content – posting articles, photos, videos and doing so in a way that is engaging to their audience. They also don’t have a lot of bells and whistles on their page – their focus is on great content and they knock that one out of the park.

Tip: When is the last time you cleaned up your Facebook page? Take a look and delete apps you no longer use, make sure your ‘about’ section is up to date and make sure you are consistently posting a variety of content 4-5 times a week (text updates, photos and videos.)

BMW

The BMW Facebook page oozes with luxury but it also makes you think, “what would it feel like to own a BMW?” Any marketer will tell you that to translate how a brand will make you feel, is not an easy task, but BMW does this beautifully with images and video and most of all their Instagram feed. Their Instagram feed showcases glimpses of “the ultimate driving machine” and is a perfect compliment to their Facebook marketing strategy.

Tip: Install the Instagram app onto your Facebook page and use Instagram as a way to capture moments in real estate that showcase what it feels like to buy or sell a home – signing the paperwork, giving the keys to a new homeowner or the first time they open the door to their new home.

Silver Oak

Life is a cabernet at Silver Oak winery in Napa and Alexander Valley. Now, I’m a little biased to Silver Oak, as they are one of my all time favorite wines, but they also have some fantastic content on their Facebook page. One of the things I love that they do is they incorporate everyday ‘behind the scenes’ photos into many of their status updates, but they also curate photos from their Twitter stream of happy patrons posting photos enjoying Silver Oak. I think it’s a super creative way to integrate two different social media platforms.

Tip: What if you were to integrate photos taken of your town on Twitter and share them on your Facebook page? It’s an easy way to curate new content and bring new people to your Facebook page!
