You’re on your phone, surfing the web or checking out the latest on Twitter. Maybe you’re on the go and reviewing a PDF on your iPad that’s been sent over from your office or a client. Bring in EverClip. This background app works with your device’s clipboard and easily saves your stuff to your Evernote account. You can easily find the app in Evernote Trunk, especially since it won the gold medal in Evernote’s Devcup competition at the Evernote Trunk Conference in 2012. Let’s check it out!
Log in with your email address and password associated with you Evernote account and authorize EverClip to access your account. EverClip clearly states what this allows (and doesn’t allow) them to access.
With a simple welcome screen to start, EverClip asks you to copy text or images from another app and come back. I decided to test it out by opening up my Twitter app. I’m always hitting “Favorite” on tweets as a way to bookmark things I want to come back and check out, so this seemed like the perfect test. I also did a quick test from within my Tech Crunch app on my iPad as shown.
Hold down on the text and the prompt “Copy” will come up. Hit copy and a little noise from EverClip verifies it’s copied it. When you switch back over to EverClip, like magic there will sit what you’ve just clipped from your other applications. One tap of that little arrow in the upper right hand corner and that clip goes directly into your default Evernote notebook (which can be set up in your Evernote settings)! I also tested this out with my Pinterest and Zillow apps which worked quite well with photos.
Within EverClip’s settings you’re able to change your default notebook and tags. As long as you have EverClip running in the background, you’re able to copy and save from other apps very easily. $2.99 in the app store might seem like a bit much and there is room for improvement from what I’ve seen so far, but trust me, if you’re on your phone and iPad as much as I am, there’s no more wishing for an easier way to save stuff into your EN account, this app is it. And I thought I was already overly-obsessed with Evernote.
