LinkedIn did a major overhaul and their mobile app, and re-released it yesterday. If you have the LinkedIn app already, I highly recommend you upgrade to the newest version. The new app is sleeker, sexier and much more robust.
A lot has changed since LinkedIn first launched. LinkedIn has become a site where professionals can gather in groups, network and share insight in a professional setting outside of Facebook or Twitter. For real estate professionals, many enjoy LinkedIn because it is free of some of the “clutter” that can clog up a Facebook stream.
A blog post on LinkedIn’s blog says,
“LinkedIn Mobile page views have grown more than 400% year-over-year, making it the fastest growing consumer service on LinkedIn.”
LinkedIn has redesigned the mobile app to improve the experience. Here are three of my favorite new features of the app:
1. Improved Updates. The Updates button on the new LinkedIn app delivers a more visually appealing experience and quick access to both Recent Updates from your own LinkedIn network, as well as the LinkedIn Today news headlines. We are really excited that LinkedIn is featuring Inman.com as one of their real estate news sources!
2. Cleaner Interface. The previous app had 12 different icons to choose from. The new interface is much more polished, and it reduces the number of options to four. Also, the app is lightening fast – going from two to ten times faster than the previous LinkedIn app.
3. Access to Groups. The new app lets you access and interact with your LinkedIn Groups. In the past, you could only interact with your groups from your desktop computer. From the app, you can read and participate in ongoing Group discussions, or add new discussions. Personally, I am really excited about this option, especially since we have one of the largest real estate groups on LinkedIn. I think this new option will allow people to share and comment much more effectively than ever before.
