Steve Rubel blogs that half of marketers are experimenting with emerging channels including the blogosphere. He says:

According to a new report from Forrester Research most marketers are relying less on new forms of interactive media than they are the tried and true. They are continuing to bank on methods such as e-mail and search, while slowly experimenting in RSS, blogs, social networking, mobile and in-game ads. Some stats from the report:

* 50 percent use or plan to use blogs or social networks
* 47 percent use or plan to use RSS
* 43 percent go or have gone mobile
* 28 percent are doing or plan on doing advergaming or in-game ads

This jives with what several other experts are saying – this time at the National Association of Real Estate Editors' annual conference – that it's time for real estate agents to start blogging and begin to provide hyper-local content.

The real value here, is that by blogging, agents and brokers can begin to position themselves as local market experts in their areas. Having a strong Internet presence (that's more than just a static, brochure-ware web site) can make a huge impact on your bottom line. We now know (according to a recent survey conducted by NAR) that 77 percent of those surveyed are using the Internet to search for a new home these days. That means, if you're in real estate and you're not looking to Internet for business, you're missing three quarters of your potential leads.
