When Facebook announced last week the ability to change your personal profile to a business page, I heard the universal “whoot whoot” from real estate agents all over! However, as we’ve seen, there are some really important things to know before you jump on the bandwagon and covert your personal profile to a page.

  1. Photos and Friends: When you convert your profile to a Page, your profile pictures will be transferred, and all of your friends will be automatically added as people who like your Page.
  2. Other Content: No other content will be carried over to your new Page, so be sure to save any important content before beginning your migration. The account associated with the profile you previously maintained will be converted to a business account, which will be the sole admin of your new Page.

When you convert your profile to a Page, some content will be automatically transferred for you:

  • All your confirmed friends will be converted to people who like your new Page.
  • Your profile pictures will be migrated to your new Page.

All other content on your profile (i.e., photo albums, profile information, etc.) will not be transferred. Be sure to save any important content before beginning your migration.

Like other pages, you might add additional admins to the Page. For example, you can add your personal profile or other people as admins.

Have you converted your page over? I’d love your thoughts on this subject – leave me your feedback below!
