Few had caught on to the Internet in 1995 when graduate of Harvard and MIT’s city planning program Bill Wendel set out to make waves with the first real estate cybercafe. A self-described consumer advocate and pioneer in the fee-for-service realm, Wendel’s business saves DIY buyers and sellers an estimated $30 billion per year, according to McKinsey & Co. The Real Estate Cafe’s “Take-out Menu” was the first service allowing consumers to access MLS listings on their cellphone. Too bad no one does that anymore….
