The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) recently launched an effort aimed at demolishing nearly 1,000 vacant or foreclosed homes in the city of Saginaw, according to a statement from the MSHDA.
The Saginaw “Blight Blitz,” which is intended to raze about 50 percent of the city’s housing blight, is part of a new campaign funded by the U.S. Treasury that is designed to eliminate some of the more than 78,000 abandoned homes that plague the Michigan cities of Detroit, Flint, Grand Rapids, Pontiac and Saginaw, the MSHDA said.
