A federal jury has declared that portal giant Zillow and fellow defendants Adchemy Inc. and Nextag Inc. did not infringe on two patents held by LendingTree.com operator Tree.com Inc.
The jury also ruled that the patents, which relate to a process for coordinating loans online, were invalid. Tree.com plans to appeal the case. The jury rejected antitrust claims filed against Tree.com.
In its latest earnings report, Zillow posted a 103 percent year-over-year increase in revenue from its mortgage marketplace in 2013, to $21.8 million. That means business from the division grew to 11 percent of Zillow’s full-year revenue.
