As housing markets improve, more people are considering a career in real estate. In 2013, the number of applications for real estate licenses almost doubled in Florida, to 40,901 from 23,863 in 2010, the Associated Press reports.
In California, the number of people taking real estate license exams has doubled since 2012, and Nevada saw a 23 percent increase in prospective licensees last year, AP said.
The more than 1 million-member National Association of Realtors also saw its first membership jump in seven years in 2013, adding 42,000 agents.
“The workforce in this field tends to expand and contract violently, mirroring the booms and busts that shock the housing market and the economy as a whole,” AP said.
