The National Association of Realtors has launched a campaign on Twitter to connect its members to their local senators and urge them to enact patent reform.

The trade group supports three Senate bills: the Patent Abuse Reduction Act of 2013, the Patent Litigation Integrity Act of 2013 and the Patent Transparency and Improvements Act of 2013.

“Our members know firsthand that patent trolls divert significant time and money from their businesses. Without needed reforms that reinforce legitimate patent rights and curtail frivolous litigation schemes, Realtors’ ability to grow, innovate and better serve modern consumers will be put at risk,” NAR said.

On the trade group’s call for action page for the campaign, members may enter their email address and state and be automatically presented with tweets that can be sent to the relevant senators with a click. The tweets say, “As my Senator, I urge you to protect #REALTORS from abusive #patenttrolls #FixPatents Now! ”

Earlier this year, Property Disclosure Technologies LLC — a company that does not maintain a website or offer any products or services — filed patent infringement suits against 13 real estate companies.
