American Homes 4 Rent, which buys distressed single-family homes and rents them out, is looking to raise $1.25 billion in an initial public offering, Reuters reported.

As of April 30, American Homes 4 Rent owned 14,210 single-family homes and had 1,425 more in escrow, Reuters found. The firm will offer Class A common stock and trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker “AMH.”

As rents rise and distressed properties are still to be had, real estate investment funds, like American Homes 4 Rent, have been ramping up their activity in the real estate rental space.
