The San Francisco Chronicle pinpoints buyers and sellers who represent a group of market participants struggling to move forward with home sales due to the government shutdown.
One couple hasn’t been able to purchase a home because a person who was on the verge of purchasing their old home hasn’t been able to close a loan due to the temporary shuttering of the Internal Revenue Service.
“All the stars had lined up, and then all of a sudden we got this curveball,” said the couple’s listing agent.
Another couple told The Chronicle they may delay listing their home until the crisis ends in order to keep it from potentially languishing on the market.
