Triangle MLS, which serves 7,000 members in the Raleigh-Durham, N.C., region, has updated its member iPad app with the INRIX Drive Time search-by-commute tool, becoming the first multiple listing service to offer the tech to its membership.

The app with INRIX Drive Time will give Triangle MLS’ members the ability to gauge commute times between a listing and a client’s frequent destinations like work, the gym or any other location.

INRIX Drive Time is powered by the INRIX Traffic Intelligence Platform, which analyzes data from sources like road sensors and accident reports, combined with real-time traffic speeds crowdsourced from 100 million vehicles and devices. The platform can adjust for factors like the day of the week, weather, accidents and road construction to help drivers avoid being stuck in traffic.

“One of our most important goals is to provide our subscribers with the tools to create fantastic homebuyer experiences for their clients,” said Tessa Hultz, president of Triangle MLS and CEO of the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors, in a statement. “By adding INRIX Drive Time to our iPad app, we take the guesswork out of commuting times and therefore increase the value Realtors can bring to their homebuying clientele.”

App-maker Mobile Realty Apps, which built Triangle MLS’ member iPad app, oversaw the incorporation of the INRIX tool in the app.

TouchCMA, an interactive presentation tool that agents can use to prove their neighborhood expertise to potential clients, added INRIX Drive Time to its platform this week.

National franchisors Re/Max LLC and Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices have licensed INRIX’s technology for their websites. Last year CoreLogic said it would offer INRIX Drive Time to MLSs that run on its platforms.

Walk Score, a neighborhood-discovery and rental-search site, offers a widget that websites can add to Google Maps to show travel-time estimates.
