Aside from the Main Street historic district, Georgetown offers hiking trails, public parks and easy access to Lake Georgetown, a reservoir on the north fork of the San Gabriel River. The lake is prime for fishing, camping, boating and swimming during the warmer months.
The Inner Space Cavern, a karst cave, laid hidden for over 10,000 years until the construction of Interstate 35 led to its discovery. Today, visitors and residents in the Austin area can tour the prehistoric cave, or visit the nearby playground, mining area, gift shop and fossil displays.
