It’d be an understatement to say that Portland, Oregon-based real estate broker Sarita Dua likes to travel.

“I was fortunate enough to be able to spend 68 days out of the office in 2014 and 139 days out of the office in 2015, with trips to Kenya, Macchu Pichu, Brazil, Vietnam, Cambodia, Iceland, Greece, Morocco, Budapest, Italy, Prague, Hawaii and Mexico,” she said.

So, how is she able to traverse the globe all while managing a small team of buyers agents and administrative coordinators who are focused on big results?

Dua will take the stage during Inman Connect New York, January 17 through 20, for her session, “Beach Money — The Bots You Can Use to Take 2 Weeks Off and Still Grow your Business,” to spill those very secrets.

We caught up with Dua — right before she was headed out the door on a trip to India, Nepal and Dubai — to give us a preview of some of the tips she plans to dispense during her session.

What is the No. 1 tip you’d give agents and brokers who want to get time away but worry about losing business?

You can have a big business and a big life — you just have to plan for it.

I found that initially, the more time I took off, the more my business suffered.

It was because I was racked with guilt and I was a poser. I was not upfront with my clients and I was unorganized. I didn’t have a good system. And as a result, on vacation, I didn’t have fun.

Then, I had a mindset switch. I intentionally planned for time off. I put systems and system bots in place.

By having people and systems in place, I could spend more and more time out of the office and out of the country — and I found I could actually increase my business. You will be surprised — it is not about losing business, it is about dealing with all of the increased business you will have when you come back!

What is one takeaway that those who attend your session will walk away with?

In this session, I will share a few nuggets I have put to use to spend more and more time out of the office. I will give you specific take aways that you can implement right away.

If you need some time off, be sure to join us at Inman Connect in New York and let Sarita school you on how to get more vacation days on the calendar without disrupting your business.
