For most real estate agents and brokers, this is the slower time of year when you begin to play catch-up and take on all of those tasks that didn’t get done during the hot spring and summer markets.

If you got behind on your blog writing over the course of the past few months, it’s time to restart. And there’s no better time than now to create content that is infinitely searchable and shareable, to remind people in your sphere of influence and beyond why you are everybody’s favorite local real estate agent.

Don’t feel you have to address all of these. Just pick and choose one every week or two to carry you through the holidays, and keep your brand top-of-mind with your friends and followers.

Real estate topic

End of year market recap: Create a year-in-review broken down by neighborhood, type of home or other criteria. If you want to get fancy, you might create an infographic or chart for easy sharing as well. Canva is a great free tool for this.

Holiday topics

Fun holiday party ideas: Include tips for cocktail parties, cookie swaps, potlucks and progressive dinners. Add value with a favorite recipe that works for each.

Local lights: Include great light displays, Christmas trees and Menorah lighting events, and feature local neighborhoods that are over-the-top with their lawn decorations. Bonus points if you include a great photo or video.

Holiday concerts, plays and performances: Include ticket and performance information for festive holiday events in the arts community in your area. Possibilities might include a Messiah singalong or a performance of The Nutcracker.

Christmas Eve services: Offer a round-up of times for services throughout the local faith community. You might also want to include a list of local restaurants that are staying open late to serve attendees.

New Year’s Eve: Create a best-of list for New Year’s celebrations, including family-friendly, formal and fireworks. Be sure and link to the event websites so that revelers can get ticket information, hours and other details.

Home keeping

Create a comfortable guest suite for holiday visitors: Home decor and hosting tips to help make visitors feel welcome and at-home.

December home maintenance checklist: Create your own or interview a local contractor (and create a little cross-promotional opportunity for both of you.)

Organizing your storage space: This is a perfect time for it because people are taking out and putting away holiday decorations.

Series blog posts (post one each day, and share on social media)

8 nights of Hanukkah or 12 days of Christmas series: This is an ideal place to create a series of short posts perfect for developing your social media following. Possibilities include a series of

  • Cookie recipes
  • Recipes for the holiday meal: Appetizer, salad, soup, entree, sides, bread, beverage, dessert, etc.
  • Crafts: These could be for holiday decor, decorations, crafts with kids or gifts
  • Homemade gift ideas: Could include food gifts, mixes, crafts or artwork
  • Great gift ideas: Could include categories like “For Him,” “For Her,” “For Kids,” “For Techies,” “For Literature Lovers,” “For Cooks,” etc.

These holiday blog ideas can help get your blog noticed and maybe even get you excited about writing it again!
