5 problems with your LinkedIn profile (and how to fix them)

The most common LinkedIn profile mistakes aren’t hard to fix. More likely than not, many of the problems with your profile can be fixed in minutes.

Here are five profile problems you can fix today:

1. No professional picture

One of the tips we can offer is this: ensure you’re using a great profile picture. If you aren’t using a professional profile pic, spend $50 and an hour of your time to get one taken; it’s well worth the investment.

2. Not including a summary

The profile summary is where you tell people who you are and what you do; it’s basically your chance to sell visitors on you and your services.

In addition to including information on what you offer, tell your profile visitors what makes you unique and why you’re worth hiring.

3. Omitting correct contact details

All the effort you put into your summary will be for nothing if your profile visitors have no way to reach you. Don’t forget to post contact details on your page, including your phone number and email address.

If you haven’t looked at these details in some time, take a moment to check them for accuracy.

4. Failing to leverage certifications

Real estate agents get some great certifications over the years. You probably have at least a few, so why not include them in your profile?

Some real estate training sites provide graduates with certificates that can be posted on LinkedIn in minutes.

Poor optimization

Another profile problem that plagues many real estate agents is poor optimization. Instead of including specific terms that will pull in traffic from search engines, agents often use very basic keywords that provide no SEO benefit.

For a quick SEO boost, include location and industry-specific keywords throughout your profile.
