Navigation app Waze has a bright new real estate partnership to show off: Compass just announced that its listings will appear on the app’s live map.
“We’re taking our mission on the move with the help of Waze,” Compass announced in a Facebook post on Friday. “Beginning in October, Compass pins will pop up on Waze’s map, indicating listings equipped with our new reimagined sign.”

The smart signs, which Compass unveiled in July at Inman Connect San Francisco, feature customizable lighting with a listing agent’s name and contact information, and send nearby prospective homebuyers phone notifications about the property. They cost between $500 and $700, according to previous statements by Compass.
As part of the partnership with Waze, the spots where the signs have been placed will, along with other listings, appear as map pins on the GPS app that launched out of Israel in 2006 and now has more than 80 million active users.
Over the last year, Waze has been actively trying to enter the real estate space — through earlier partnerships, its map currently features property ads from Homesnap and open house ads from HomeSpotter.
Compass, which has attracted $808 million in funding and is valued at $1.8 billion, has promoted itself as a different kind of real estate brokerage relying on new and innovative technologies for use by its agents. It’s seen rapid expansion in 2018 through a spree of acquisitions and hires.
