The 1 million-member National Association of Realtors rehired real estate and mortgage industry veteran Todd Carpenter in October 2013 to head up its newly launched predictive analytics department. NAR first hired Carpenter to manage its online and social media presence in February 2009. In April 2012, Carpenter announced his departure from the trade group to become senior manager of industry engagement at real estate listing and marketing company Trulia. He left the company less than a year later, in March 2013, and worked as an analyst and consultant before returning to NAR. There, Carpenter’s role is to explain predictive analytics to NAR leadership and members; to acquire or license data from third-party sources; and to formulate ways to use NAR’s treasure trove of real estate data to help its members stay ahead of trends and make better business decisions. He recently debuted DataBetaPalooza, a program aimed at recruiting initial data partners for NAR.
